1998: Cat Power - Cross Bones Style

You could talk about this track as mesmerizing. You really could. Especially since it's said to have originated in a post-hypnotic state, in the shared farmlands of a self-proclaimed fuck up ex-boyfriend (goodness, bill callahan is dreamy). A couple of repetitive chords, the drums kick in, and your interests peak - but it's the token husky-Chan vocals that strike at the drama the melody hints at. Although popular demand assigns the pre-produced, no, less pronounced, no, best version, 'metal heart' as the signature stand out track on 1998's Moon Pix - I'd confidently add this to that pedestal. As she pounds her lackadaisical gun at you, Marshall croons, "you have seen some unbelievable things" and in the comfort of your indifferent rock cradle, you're shaken out of your shared post-hypnotic state, only to realize, that you actually have.

ps22 Chorus kids are better than most hipsters.
